SCAC Services
Community Service Block Grant - The Community Services Block Grant, which helps low-income families and individuals with services like utility assistance, GED preparation, resume and job search assistance, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, Senior Nutrition, Optical Care, and Low-Income Energy Assistance, serves Cabell, Lincoln, Mason, and Wayne Counties.
Head Start - Head Start is a national program which provides comprehensive developmental services for income eligible, pre-school children aged 3 to 5 and social services for their families in the counties of Cabell, Lincoln, Mason, and Wayne. In addition, Early Head Start provides developmentally appropriate enrichment activities to infants and toddlers ages 0-3.
Case Management/ Homemaker - Individual plans of care for elderly and/or disabled residents who have been determined medically and financially eligible. Homemaker services include personal care, meal planning, and much more. The Homemaker Program currently serves Cabell and Wayne Counties. Case Management provides each client a licensed social worker who uses community resources to work with the client. Case management is currently serving Cabell, Jackson, Mason, Mingo, Putnam, Wayne, and Wood Counties.
Mason County Homeless Shelter - Provides crisis intervention, including shelter to homeless families and adults in Mason County.
Mature Worker Program - The mature Worker Program works with community agencies to help income-qualified participants 55 and over to find jobs, increase skills and supplement their incomes. This program currently serves Cabell, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, Mingo, and Wayne Counties.
Right From The Start - A statewide program in West Virginia committed to producing improvements in birth outcomes for low-income pregnant women and their families.
Simms Housing Project - Funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Simms Housing is a permanent supportive housing program for disabled, chronically homeless individuals.
Weatherization - Weatherization's mission is to reduce heating and cooling costs for income eligible families, particularly for the elderly, disabled, and children. Weatherization currently operates in Cabell, Lincoln, Mason, Putnam, and Wayne counties.
