Who can get right from the start?:
To be eligible for RFTS you must:
1.) Be pregnant or have a child less than one year old and live in the state of West Virginia.
2.) Have a current, active Medicaid Card or medical coverage through the Office of Maternal, Child and Family Health (OMCFH).
Note: All pregnant teens under 19 are eligible for medical coverage through OMCFH regardless of family income.
How do you apply for right from the start?
When you have a positive pregnancy test, the facility staff will assist you with the proof of pregnancy and give you the "shortened" application for Medicaid. Complete the form and submit the application to your county Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR).
If denied Medicaid, and you are uninsured for maternity care, your application will be forwarded to the Office of Maternal, Child and Family Health (OMCFH) to see if you qualify for RFTS through the Maternity Services Program.
